St. Paul, MN, April 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Annual scholarship competition open to graduating boys and girls lacrosse players.
Twin Cities nonprofit, Homegrown Lacrosse has added a girl’s category to its annual Community Leadership Award. Introduced in 2010, the Homegrown Lacrosse Community Leadership Award recognizes two graduating Minnesota high school lacrosse players who exemplify the qualities of character, confidence and community.
Created to recognize the acts of character and community that define young men and women, recipients of the 2012 each receive $500 scholarships for use towards their freshman year tuition.
“The award recognizes and showcases the significant impact a player makes off the field and their concern for the community as a whole,” said Colin Achenbach, program director and co-founder, Homegrown Lacrosse. “In 2011, each applicant’s entry illustrated their strength of character, compassion, knowledge and a desire to make a difference in their community.”
Recipients of the 2011 Community Leadership Award were Ben Martynec from Hill Murray and Zach Silvestri from Benilde-St. Margaret’s.
