Federal Labs, Industry to Meet in Pittsburgh to Foster Technology Transfer

Pittsburgh, PA, April 12, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC), which works to bring government research to the private sector, will hold its 2012 national meeting in Pittsburgh from April 30-May 3.

More than 400 federal and industry technology transfer professionals, patent attorneys, licensing professionals, scientists and others are expected to attend the meeting at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel.

At a variety of events over four days, participants will explore ways to foster collaborative research between the nation’s more than 700 federal laboratories and research centers, and industry, academia, and state and local governments. The FLC, a consortium of the laboratories and research centers, was chartered by Congress to enhance the national economy through such collaborative efforts.

On May 3, Industry Day, businesses can attend - at a no cost - to learn about partnering with federal laboratories through Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs) and by licensing technologies or products that have been developed in the federal labs.

The meeting will feature training sessions, panel discussions, and exhibitors, as well as keynote speakers, including:

· Azam Khan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, who will discuss the implications of the new “America Invents Act.”

· Brian E. Joseph, co-founder of Touchstone Research Laboratory and founder of SJ Little Invention and Consulting, who studies high-speed, low-cost breakthrough innovation.

· Dr. John D. Evans, Corporate Vice President, Technology and Innovation for Lockheed Martin Cooperation, who as the company’s technical ambassador develops and enhances relationships with governments, universities, and businesses globally.
