Alexandrian, VA, April 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- What: Sponsored teams of volunteers are still needed to help Rebuilding Together Alexandria (RTA) repair and maintain 50 vulnerable Alexandria, Va. residents’ homes during National Rebuilding Day, a nationwide Rebuilding Together initiative. With support from Skanska, Booz Allen Hamilton, First Baptist Church, Sears, and Wells Fargo, 1,000 volunteers will restore and upgrade homes for low-income, disabled and elderly residents during National Rebuilding Day. A highlight of National Rebuilding Day is Heroes at Home, a partnership with Sears Holdings that focuses on improving the lives of the military and their families through extensive home rehabilitations.
Why: With the help of funders and volunteers, Rebuilding Together Alexandria works to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize the Alexandria community by providing free home repairs and modifications. These upgrades are important since most of Rebuilding Together Alexandria’s clients live near the poverty level—earning less than $25,000 a year. Rebuilding Together Alexandria has worked on more than 1,400 projects in Alexandria since its inception more than 25 years ago, improving the lives of thousands.
