Sunnyside Auto Repair Centers Announces Mural for Site Renovation
Sunnyside Auto Repair Centers announces the creation of a building-sized mural for their commercial business location in Salem. As part of their site remodel and “facelift,” they have retained Virginia-based artist and muralist Daniel Johnson for the project.
Salem, OR, April 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- “In the effort to revitalize our decades-old commercial building, and after being in this location for over ten years, we wanted to brighten and help revitalize our neighborhood by bringing a motor-city quality mural for our South Salem residents and customers to enjoy. We are extremely excited about this project and as far as we know – we aren’t aware of anything being done like this in the Willamette Valley,” said Sunnyside’s Owner, Alex McClelland.
Mr. McClelland contracted with Virginia-based artist, Daniel Johnson, to design and paint the project. Mr. Johnson explores a wide variety of art forms including sculpture, furniture, and architectural projects using materials such as metal, glass, ceramics and recycled objects. With inspiration coming from travel experiences, Mr. Johnson is currently travelling cross-country while filming a research project on sustainable living, and painting murals all along the way.
Mr. Johnson comments that “I am delighted to be involved in a project of this size, scope and history. Although I haven’t had extensive experience in automotive-based subject matter, I am excited to be participating in the creation of this landmark, quality piece for Salem.”
Starting of the mural will ensue, weather allowing, within the next week. Mr. Johnson estimates that it will require 3 to 5 evenings, working very late nights, to complete the work. When the re-modeling project is done, Mr. McClelland is planning for a Grand Re-Opening celebration at his South Salem facility.
