Chicago Lighthouse Showcases New CDesk Technology

Chicago, IL, April 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Chicago Lighthouse is proud to unveil a new computer system that is easy to use, simple to learn and fun!

CDesk is making its Midwestern debut at the Lighthouse this spring. The new technology is ideal for senior citizens or anyone else seeking to enhance their computer experiences.

“CDesk is an all inclusive computer system that has high contrast and large print, is speech and zoom enabled and can be controlled with the keyboard, mouse and even with your voice,” noted Tom Perski, senior vice president of rehabilitative services at the Lighthouse.

Perski observed that the new device gives customers access to 16 much used computer applications such as word processing, emails, internet browsing and a newsreader application. All made simple with built –in help videos.

He added that by using CDesk, an individual can avoid keyboard frustrations and simply ask the computer any questions he or she may want the answer to. E mails and word documents can be easily dictated as well.

CDesk is available as software only to install on your own computer, or as a hardware package with a computer system and the software pre-installed. CDesk can also talk to the user in a number of different languages making it easy to use no matter what your native tongue may be. It can also do instant translation! Each purchase includes unlimited technical support.

The software was designed by Michael Wechter for his wife Randyce, who suffers from visual impairment, and their experience has helped to create an intuitive and unique system that gives everybody the ability to use the computer with ease.

Both hardware and software options are available from The Chicago Lighthouse, where the CDesk system can also be demonstrated for free in the ‘Tools for Living’ retail store. Two locations are available, 1850 West Roosevelt, Chicago and 222 Waukegan Road, Glenview.
