Evan Guthrie Law Firm Helps Heirs’ Property Wills Clinic in Edisto Island SC

Charleston, SC, April 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina helped provide wills for homeowners on Saturday March 24th 2012 Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation Wills Clinic at Allen AME Church in Edisto Island, South Carolina. Attorney Guthrie joined forces with the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation to write wills for families that are vulnerable to having their property to potentially become heirs’ property. Heirs' property is the name given to land that is owned by a group of family members who are the descendants of the original purchaser. The deed to the land is registered in the name of a deceased family member. Many family members own shares of the property and it is most times difficult to get the title back into one person’s name in the family without legal help. Attorney Guthrie joined other volunteer attorneys and law students to help provide members of Allen AME Church with wills and other estate planning advice. Mr. Guthrie joined forces with a law student to draft close to ten wills during the clinic. Attorney Guthrie was happy to volunteer and donate his time to use his legal skills and knowledge to positively change the lives of those that participated in the event. This was the second time that Mr. Guthrie participated in a wills clinic for the center. Attorney Guthrie looked forward to being able to participate in future events from the center and help with more wills.
