Texas homeschool seniors can apply for two $500 college scholarships. The homeschool scholarships will be awarded by the North Texas Home Educators’ Network, a Texas-based homeschool support organization. Homeschool seniors have until May 15 to apply.
Rockwall, TX, April 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The North Texas Home Educators’ Network (NTHEN) is offering two $500 scholarships to college bound homeschool seniors.
The scholarships recognize the achievements of North Texas homeschool students to assist them with the cost of their college education and to honor the sacrifice made by their parents.
The NTHEN Scholarship fund was established in conjunction with its corporate partner, Learning for Life®.
The scholarships are available to incoming first year (freshmen) college students living in north, northeast and north central Texas.
Eligible students must have been homeschooled at least the last three years of high school; maintained a GPA of 3.0 or greater, have graduated from high school through a homeschool process and under Texas law, and must be planning to attend a two- or four-year institution of higher learning full time beginning in 2012.
Eligible students can apply by submitting a formal application, which is available at www.nthen.org (click on Resources and then Scholarships). Besides the application, students must submit a copy of their ACT, SAT, or other college-designated test scores; provide a one-page autobiography, including a recent photo; write a 500-word description of their homeschooling experience; list extracurricular activities throughout their high school years, including details about activities and organizations and total hours served; and provide two non-family references with contact information for each.
Scholarship winners will be determined by the NTHEN scholarship committee. Students will be judged based on their academic record, accomplishments, personal references, leadership qualities, character, community activities, and service.
The application deadline is May 15, 2012. Applications must be postmarked by this date to be eligible.
