Northwest Travel Magazine Launches New Column with Sunset Magazine Veteran Steve Lorton
Longtime regional publication, Northwest Travel Magazine, reaches beyond the Northwest with the its newly launched “Nonstop to ...” by Steve Lorton, formerly with Sunset Magazine.
Gig Harbor, WA, April 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- After acquiring Northwest Travel Magazine in the fall of 2011, publisher Dave Peterson has strategically reshaped the publication. In the Spring 2012 issue, upgrades included new departments, a more contemporary design and a fresh approach to content. In the second phase of Northwest Travel's transformation, Peterson takes readers beyond the Northwest in a new section of the magazine called “Nonstop to ...” about international and domestic destinations travelers can reach nonstop from a Northwest airport.
Steve Lorton, the former Northwest Bureau Chief at Sunset Magazine, will write “Nonstop to ...” for Northwest Travel. Lorton is a 33-year publishing veteran with Sunset, and has penned numerous articles about travel, food, gardening and lifestyle for that publication.
“Steve Lorton brings the insight of a well-traveled, seasoned writer to Northwest Travel's pages,” Peterson says. “I couldn't be more thrilled about him contributing to the publication on a regular basis.”
Lorton's inaugural article—“Nonstop to Tokyo”—will appear in Northwest Travel's Summer 2012 issue.
“Northwest Travel Magazine is all about inspiring readers to discover something about the Northwest that's new to them,” says Peterson, “to seek out the best and most interesting aspects of our region and experience it, whether it's a destination, an activity or something in the culinary scene. But Northwesterners travel outside the region too. With Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver all thriving global portals, these cities' international airports offer non-stop service to many places around the world, taking the hassle out of exotic travel. Step on a plane in any of these airports and you can step off in a far away place. No long waits for connecting flights. No hopping around. And Northwest Travel Magazine is here to help our readers plan their trips. I want to inspire people with easy-to-reach yet somewhat exotic destinations that are a world away.”
“Nonstop to ...” is designed to give readers Lorton's well-chosen pick's of the top places to see and things to do at each destination. The articles are crafted with a seasoned traveler's perspective, including cultural tips and Lorton's approachable yet wry sense of humor.
