Rocky Top Hospitality to Oversee Acro Café, Plans New Eatery at Nature Research Center
Local Restaurateur Assumes Café Operations at N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, Opens The Daily Planet Café in Research Branch.
Raleigh, NC, April 22, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Dean Ogan, owner of Rocky Top Hospitality (http://www.rockytophospitality.com), has announced that the restaurant group has assumed operations of Acro Café at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at 11 W. Jones St. and opens a new restaurant called The Daily Planet Café at the adjacent Nature Research Center, scheduled to open on Friday, April 20. Open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. through 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m., The Daily Planet Café offers breakfast items until 11 a.m. and brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Brunch on Sundays will feature live jazz. Additionally, The Daily Planet Café will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights featuring a variety of live music both inside and outside on the patio, and will open Monday through Thursday nights for events and special promotions, such as science café’s, trivia and private parties. Rocky Top Hospitality is the exclusive caterer throughout the museum, including meeting spaces and social functions such as weddings and other celebrations.
Diners at The Daily Planet Café will select from a breakfast menu featuring fresh baked pastries, muffins, fruit, yogurt and a few hot breakfast items. Lunch will focus on sandwiches and burgers, but will also feature several small plate entrees and a seasonal salad bar. The menu will change frequently in order to use seasonal ingredients, and will be almost exclusively built on products sourced in North Carolina. The full-service coffee bar will serve Larry’s Beans, which is a local, organic coffee company, and will offer a large variety of coffees and cappuccinos, espressos and teas. The bar will also offer local and green initiatives, with 12 North Carolina breweries featured on 12 taps, Childress North Carolina wines on draft (a first for the area), and limited bottled wine and alcohol offerings. Service will be fast-casual, where food and beverages will be ordered at the kitchen counter and then brought to the guest when ready.
