As Earth Day Approaches, Taylor Morrison Rolls Out Energy-Saving “Elem3nts” Program
Country’s largest private homebuilder adding HERS®Index energy rating system to its homes
Scottsdale, AZ, April 22, 2012 --(PR.com)-- In order to help homebuyers better understand the energy efficiency of their next home, the nation’s largest private homebuilder, Taylor Morrison, has announced that its communities will now carry energy ratings based on the HERS®Index.
The index will be part of the homebuilder’s new Elem3nts program, which stresses environment, energy and efficiency. Starting on Earth Day, Taylor Morrison communities across the country will display the HERS®Index ratings of the homes built in the community.
The independent HERS®Index system provides a home energy rating that homebuyers can use to quickly compare similar products, making it easier for them to select a home that not only fits their lifestyle, but also offers the lower-energy costs of a more energy-efficient home.

But we must also concern ourselves with the larger environment – our eco-environment – and the HERS®Index helps us measure our progress.”
The HERS®Index is based on four main components – assessment of building components, diagnostic and performance testing, energy modeling and a final report which delivers the energy rating for the home. The rating system is based on a scale of zero to 150, with a lower number indicating better energy efficiency. A typical new home built in the U.S. averages a score of 100, with older homes scoring closer to 130.
Palmer said the Elem3nts program offers homebuyers peace of mind in the construction of their home and the opportunity to save money on their utility bills.
