John F. May is Lead Population Specialist with the World Bank. Dr. May’s expertise in the Population analysis, demography, project management, population policies, family planning, population projections and HIV/Aids programs has earned him numerous awards including Good Practice ICR Quality Award for The Gambia HIV/AIDS Rapid Response Project Implementation Completion Report (ICR) and the Fred H. Bixby Foundation Visiting Scholarship at the Population Reference Bureau. He has written numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, conference papers, posters, abstracts and other publications. He is the Author of "World Population Policies: Their Origin, Evolution, and Impact.” He has made major contributions to population policies and programs worldwide, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. Dr May is a member of the Population Association of America and the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population. In his free time, Dr. May enjoys swimming, classical music, reading, cinema.
