Born from frustration with the lack of informative, surf-centered websites dedicated to travel and accommodations, creators Ian McDonnell and Jeff Shapiro were determined to develop a valuable tool for the surf community.
Their website is a culmination of the best of what the creators were looking for-and couldn’t find anywhere else online. They have melded intuitive, modern design, integrated social media, in-depth advance search functionality, and dynamic real world maps into a website that filled a huge void in both the surf and travel industries.
“We’re not just another vacation rental site. We’re surfers. We built Shacked.org from the ground up, for us, and people like us. We couldn’t find anything on the web that would get us to the right surf break, at the right price. We had to rely on sending a million emails and phone calls, searching outdated websites, and trudging through some of the bigger listing sites that weren't necessarily built for our community. So we decided to do it better. All of shacked’s functionality combines to provide the best experience ever for both property owners and travelers around the world. We’re stoked,” McDonnell says.
Shacked.org includes local knowledge from the source. In addition to rental properties and hotels, the site will provide business listings, ranging from local surf shops, bars and restaurants, and even surf tours.
