Geoff Notkin, Star of Award-Winning "Meteorite Men" TV Show, Appearing at World's Largest Astronomy Forum This Weekend
Geoff Notkin, star of the award-winning Discovery Science TV show "Meteorite Men," is appearing at the world's largest astronomy forum this weekend in New York. The appearance will provide an opportunity for fans and the media to meet and interact with Notkin, one of the world’s foremost meteorite hunters and subject matter experts.
Peoria, AZ, April 27, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Geoff Notkin, star of the Science Channel’s award-winning TV series Meteorite Men, and owner of Aerolite Meteorites, will be appearing this weekend at the world's largest astronomy forum. The appearance will provide an opportunity for fans and the media to meet and interact with Notkin, one of the world’s foremost meteorite hunters and subject matter expert, who is also an author, photographer, science writer, publisher, artist and musician. Meteorites and collectibles will be available for viewing and purchase at each event.
Notkin’s first book, "Meteorite Hunting: How To Find Treasure From Space," has been hailed as the definitive guide to recovering meteorites. His second book, "Rock Star, Adventures of a Meteorite Man," is due out this spring and will include an introduction by famed author and screenwriter Neil Gaiman.
Notkin states, "Meteorites are older than the Earth, and some are older than our solar system. They have spent millions of years traveling through unknown parts of space, being bathed in cosmic rays and frozen almost to absolute zero. During their celestial wanderings, a few of them cross paths with our planet, which is a small target out there in the perpetual night. Some bounce back into space, never to be seen again; some burn up completely in Earth’s atmosphere; others fall into oceans where they will not be found. A very few are seen to fall by observers. Some of those falls are recovered, studied, photographed, and placed reverently in museum cabinets and collection cases. And that is what I do: I search the globe for space rocks."
