Between Heaven and Earth - Solo Exhibit

Alternatives Gallery: Between Heaven and Earth Solo Exhibit. June 15 to July 13, 2007. Artist Reception Friday June 15, 2007 at 7 PM.

Uxbridge, MA, June 02, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Alternatives Gallery of Uxbridge, Ma is very pleased to announce a solo exhibition of conceptual realist painter Renee Dumont.

A native of Blackstone Massachusetts is an emerging contemporary realist oil painter in the tradition of Renaissance and Baroque artists. Her exhibition, Between Heaven and Earth: The oil paintings of Renee Dumont, features over 50 of the artist’s incredible figurative , landscape and foliage paintings. The exhibition will be on view June 15 through July 13th.

In her expansive and prolific artistic career, Dumont has sought to connect her art to what is lasting and timeless. The artist approaches nature and the human figure through carefully orchestrated neo-classical compositions and mythological narratives that connect her to the Western cultural tradition. In fact, her extensive background in anatomy, historical painting techniques, and her unique and powerful visual vocabulary places her among some of the most powerful contemporary realist artists in Western art.

Since the 1980s, Dumont has painted fruit, hands, portraits, and a variety of other objects in a realistic style, as well as painting Renaissance-like figures, primarily portraits of people and pets alike. Her oil paintings feature warm colors and her drawings subtle changes of value.

“For Renee Dumont, art is a means to tell a story, to represent clear primordial human elements such as birth, healing, virtues, and the passage of time. “The action in her paintings, as explained by the artist, occurs ‘in a time that is cyclical, rather than linear, because of the universality and repetition of human experience.’

“The visual power and symbolism of Renee Dumont is such that the viewer will take those feelings with them long after the exhibition has closed.”

Dumont has an extensive educational background, of both private and public practices. She attended the Community College of RI, and earned a degree in Fine Art. She has continued her study of light, color and anatomy at the Worcester Museum of Art in Massachusetts. Dumont has received several foundation grants, and was bestowed with the People’s Choice Award in several juried exhibits and her work has been shown throughout the United States. Dumont’s work is included in numerous private and public collections.

Renee Dumont is owner of Guardian Paw-traits offering commissioned portraits to support a non-profit organization known as Angels of the Snow. The artist believes in reaching out to make a difference in our world therefore, Dumont contributes a portion of her funds to help homeless and suffering Siberian Huskies.
