The Latest Colors from Bayer Relate the Optimism and Joy of Springtime

Pittsburgh, PA, April 30, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The mild winter the East Coast of the United States recently experienced brought about early thoughts of spring. This vernal optimism is evident in Bayer MaterialScience LLC’s latest spring color palette, which offers manufacturers even more coloring options.

These five hues further broaden Bayer’s LEDA® Compounded Color Technology offerings. Bayer’s Color Competence and Design Center (CCDC) in Newark, Ohio, drew inspiration from a variety of sources for its latest palette, including design and fashion trends, and nature. According to Terry Bush, senior scientist, Bayer MaterialScience LLC, “The trends look ahead to what consumers will be seeing in the next two to three years. The mood of the nation is more positive and upbeat than in recent years, and this is reflected in the brighter, crisper colors Bayer is unveiling.”

All five of the new colors, which are part of Bayer’s “Just Cool Colors” family, can be described as opaque, pastel shades. They are solid and stable hues and evoke feelings of calmness. Bayer’s newest colors are:
• Clockwerk – As the brightest shade in the palette, Clockwerk is a vibrant but not obnoxious orange. This color can be found on the petals of an exotic bird of paradise flower or a shining orange day lily. Standing the test of time, Clockwerk can transition into spring, summer and fall themes.

• Magick – This solid, saturated and spell-binding color is the deepest of the bunch. The medium-tone purple conjures up thoughts of mystery, wonder and a certain Arthurian character. Stable and proud, Magick mimics the purple of the Wisteria plant.

• Ballerina – Feminine, elegant and refined all describe Ballerina’s medium-toned light pink. This shade is not too timid or too loud. Ballerina conveys a coolness and softness similar to a cherry blossom.

• Submarine – What imparts feelings of spring awakening better than a sunny yellow? Submarine brightens up the palette with its warm, rich color. It’s a pleasing tone adding depth without being in-your-face. Submarine imparts a free-spirited, care-free playfulness reminiscent of the 1960s. Think of it as an early spring buttercup bringing a smile to your face.

• Carib – A cross between a mint and seafoam shade, this soft green has an almost grey undertone. As the most neutral color of the five, Carib is versatile and waiting to decorate any number of products. It is both sweet and resilient, like the ornamental tree of a similar name.

As a cohesive collection of colors, the new spring 2012 offerings provide designers and manufacturers with five shades that work well together and can enhance their products’ visual appeal.
