Sequoia Golf Announces Launch of Non-Profit
Sequoia Charitable Foundation Created to Teach the Values and Beliefs of the Game of Golf to Youth
Atlanta, GA, April 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- In an effort to build awareness of the game of golf and its values to youth, Sequoia Golf, the leading golf management organization in the Southeast, announces the official launch of its charity arm, the Sequoia Charitable Foundation. The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization allows Sequoia employees and the community to give back to local organizations through volunteer opportunities and monetary donations.
Since its soft launch in 2011, the Sequoia Charitable Foundation has donated more than $500,000 to charities throughout Georgia and Texas. Fundraising efforts have included hosting several events at Sequoia Golf clubs such as the YMCA’s Community Is Our Cause, Pink the Pro Shop Against Breast Cancer and Patriot Golf Day. Most recently the Sequoia Charitable Foundation has participated in the Special Olympics Bowling Championships and Habitat for Humanity builds.
“Giving back to communities in which we live, work and play has always been a priority at Sequoia and through the launch of the Foundation we’ll be able to dedicate more time and effort into these initiatives,” says Joe Guerra, president and CEO of Sequoia Golf. “I’ve always been a firm believer that learning the game of golf is as important for kids as learning a second language. Relationships are forged on the golf course like no other place. The virtues of the game and its invaluable lessons are clearly transferable to all aspects of life. Children should have the opportunity to learn these important lessons.”
In addition to serving community groups, The Foundation has also created the Employee Relief Fund that serves as a way for Sequoia employees to support fellow co-workers in a time of need. At the beginning of every school year, The Foundation has a school supply drive. The purpose of the drive is to assist families in our area, as well as specific employees of Canongate, who need assistance with the cost of sending their children back to school.
