Home Office Minister Lynne Featherstone Visits FlashPark

London, United Kingdom, April 30, 2012 --(PR.com)-- FlashPark recently had the honour of welcoming Home Office minister Lynne Featherstone to its London premises, giving the company the opportunity to highlight the latest advancements being made in the enforcement of unauthorised parking.

North London-based FlashPark has taken a front seat role in developing parking solutions for private landowners, particularly since the ban on the use of wheel clamps on private land. It is the only facility in the UK that allows landowners to report illegal parking online and the company’s executives were able to provide Ms Featherstone with a clear example of what the future has in store for moderate and non-confrontational parking enforcement.

The head of business development at FlashPark, Costas Constantino, said that they were delighted to welcome Ms Featherstone, and took the opportunity to highlight the high self-imposed standards to which FlashPark operates.

“FlashPark solves 82 per cent of parking problems without having to resort to the use of issuing tickets, but our business is a constantly developing formula and is filling the vacuum created by the wheel clamping ban,” Mr Constantino explained.

“Landowners want to solve parking problems in an ethical and non-confrontational manor which gives them control of their property. Parking notices issued by FlashPark can be cancelled if a motorist’s apology for the use of the land is accepted by landowner.”

The company demonstrated to Ms Featherstone the two new rules they have introduced that make them a UK leader in self-regulation. The first new rule states that in order for a charge notice for a parking offence to be processed, landowners must ensure that there is clear pictorial evidence of the offending vehicle, including the vehicle registration number, the parking warning sign and the offence date and time.

The second rule puts a specific definition on what can be considered a parked vehicle. Specifically it must have no occupants, must not be in motion, must have the windows and doors closed and the engine switched off, and the landowner must make sure that no one connected to the vehicle is nearby who may, for example, be purchasing a parking ticket for it.

The service also provides an extra level of security by checking any reported vehicle against the Police stolen vehicles register and warns affected landowners to call the police.

Ms Featherstone is the junior Home Office minister with responsibility for equality, and is also the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Hornesy and Wood Green.
