Balfour Beatty Construction Awarded Two Contracts from the Wiseburn Unified School District
Los Angeles, CA, May 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Balfour Beatty Construction has been awarded two contracts from the Wiseburn Unified School District to provide lease-leaseback services to construct a $3.9 million multi-purpose room building at Peter Burnett Elementary School and a $350,000 single level concession stand at R. H. Dana Middle School.
Designed by Flewelling & Moody Architects of Los Angeles, Calif., the 9,082-SF multi-purpose room (MPR) building at Peter Burnett includes a dining area, state of the art kitchen, and storage areas. The project also includes related site work, utilities and site preparation. This will be the first MPR building for the school, which was originally built in 1956. The 650-SF concession stand at Dana is designed by Miera Architects of Pasadena, and includes a kitchen, ADA compliant restrooms and storage. Peter Burnett Elementary School is located at 5403 W. 138th Street, Hawthorne, Calif., 90250 and R H. Dana Middle School is located at 5504 W. 135th St., Hawthorne, CA 90250.
The additions are being funded by Measure A, a voter-approved $32.6 million bond program aimed at building a new Cabrillo Elementary School and improving and modernizing school facilities in the Wiseburn Unified School District. Both projects are expected to complete by late September 2012.
The Balfour Beatty Construction team working on the project includes John Bernardy, senior vice president; Gil Fullen, vice president, Charles Brown Sr. project manager, Joseph O’Neill, project manager, David Simko, project superintendent.
