Henderson Franklin Employee Strikes Hole in One at Age 89 Years Young

Fort Myers, FL, May 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- At age 89, William Raney of Fort Myers is just one year older than his employer, the Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt law firm which was established in 1924. On Friday, April 27, Mr. Raney hit the shot of a lifetime at Panther Run Golf Course at Ave Maria, driving his ball 129 yards for a hole in one at the 17th hole. He used a 17 degree hybrid club and nearly shot his age – recording a round of 90 for the day while playing with a group of friends from his church. According to the U.S. Golf Register, it is estimated that the odds of hitting a hole in one are anywhere between one in 20,000 to one in 30,000. After taking up golf back in 1948, this was his second hole in one, as he had his first in 1986 at a course outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Raney knows a thing or two about beating the odds. He is one of our country's few remaining Pearl Harbor survivors and was aboard the USS Sacramento berthed at Pearl Harbor the morning of December 7, 1941. Mr. Raney entered active duty in the Navy on November 4, 1940 and retired as a Lieutenant Commander in May 1961. He served with distinction training pilots during the Korean War as well as his combat service throughout World War II. In March 1989, Mr. Raney joined Henderson Franklin and has been providing expert financial analysis on a part-time basis for the last 23 years.
