Gartner Names XMPro the First Australian Business Process Management Cool Vendor
XMPro has been selected by Gartner as one of only five Cool Vendors in Business Process Management (BPM) across the globe. It is the first time that an Australian BPM Vendor has been named a Cool BPM Vendor since the reports initiated in 2004.
New York, NY, May 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Each year, Gartner publishes a series of research reports in key technology areas that identifies undiscovered vendors with innovative products and services. This year five vendors are profiled in the 2012 BPM Cool Vendors report illustrating the use of cloud, mobile, social, and information forces that are reshaping the use of IT. Pieter van Schalkwyk, CEO of XMPro Pty Ltd says, “Being classed a Gartner BPM Cool Vendor exemplifies our solution as a forerunner in keys areas where BPM is changing to accommodate the demands of current business environments. Aiming for Intelligent Business Process Management, this report justifies our solution and qualifies our ability to handle dynamic BPM which is driven by business rules that change at any point in time.”
The Gartner report recommends XMPro to BPI leaders who are looking for a Sharepoint based BPMS that allows business stakeholders to easily modify processes and rules to support ad hoc, unstructured collaboration. Application managers who are looking for a platform on which to build process-centric applications that span Sharepoint, Outlook, and enterprise applications. IT professional services vendors who are looking for a BPMS partner in Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand and South Africa. Additionally, XMPro’s Australian origin is highly commended.
Gartner recognises XMPro as a Cool Vendor for its unconventional ability to trigger rules at the actual activity in the process or in the form field. This provides the flexibility to handle process exceptions and complex processes that have many route options. It acts as “an umbrella” which coordinates repeatable and unstructured process interactions involving human tasks, decisions, Sharepoint, Outlook and enterprise applications. “Our customers comment on the power they have gained through synching their technology and accessing information in one place no matter how complex a process gets,” says Lauro Bath, Executive at XMPro Pty Ltd.
Additionally the Gartner report recognises XMPro’s ability deploy a process to multiple user interfaces including mobile devices. “Customers access their process activities from interfaces that are the most convenient for them such as their Outlook, Sharepoint Portal, or mobile devices,” says Gavin Green, Product Manager at XMPro Pty Ltd. Gartner also highlights XMPro’s monitoring capability (XMPro Insight) as well as the number of connectors built into the solution used to accelerate integration to common systems and applications. Van Schalkwyk comments, “We want our solution to be intuitive and easy to use, Gartner’s mention of these capabilities proves we’ve accomplished this.”
According to the report, organisations who use these newly selected BPM Cool Vendors don’t just view business processes as a static, repeatable set of flows. Instead, they are seeking dynamic BPM - rules-driven processes that change on the fly. Increasingly, mobile access to business processes from a variety of devices has seen these Cool Vendors embrace cloud computing and support Social BPM. They are focused on knowledge-intensive processes that require case management, advanced decisioning, and intelligent business operations. BPM platforms not only continue to accelerate time to results in business process improvement projects, they are also the foundation for creating and maintaining next-generation, composite applications.

Gartner defines a cool vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: Innovative, enable users to do things they couldn’t do before; Impactful, have, or will have, business impact (not just technology for the sake of technology); Intriguing, have caught Gartner’s interest or curiosity in approximately the past six months. Gartner disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied, with respect to this research, including any warranties of merchantability or fitness of a particular purpose. That are focused on knowledge-intensive processes which require case management, advanced decisioning, and intelligent business operations.
