Bergen County Freeholder Ganz to be Honored at the Care Plus Foundation Courage Awards Gala

In recognition for his work with those who are facing the challenges of mental illness and substance abuse, Bergen County Freeholder David L. Ganz has been named one of three honorees at the 14th Annual Courage Awards Gala on June 12, 2012.

Paramus, NJ, May 03, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Care Plus Foundation will be honoring those who have provided exemplary service on behalf of others who are facing the challenges of mental illness and substance abuse at their annual Courage Awards Gala on June 12, 2012. Bergen County Freeholder David L. Ganz is one of three who have been named as honorees; other honorees include HOMECorp of Montclair and a nationally-recognized guest honoree that is pending announcement in May.

“Care Plus NJ speaks for those who do not have a voice - our most vulnerable citizens. I am proud to have been associated with the organization for all of these years,” noted Ganz.

David L. Ganz is currently serving his fourth consecutive term as Freeholder in Bergen County – the first Democrat in the 300 year history of the Board to have served for 10 or more years. The current Dean of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, he has served two terms as vice chairman (2005-2006), chairman pro tempore (2010), and was the chair of the budget committee an unprecedented eight consecutive years (2003-2010). He is also the current minority leader.

An accomplished lawyer, dynamic author, and speaker, Ganz previously served as the 29th Mayor of the Borough of Fair Lawn, New Jersey (the 4th largest municipality in Bergen County) from 1999-2005. He is also managing partner and principal litigator in the law firm of Ganz & Sivin, L.L.P. of Fair Lawn and Ganz & Hollinger, P.C. in New York City. His law practice is focused on litigation, guardianship, real estate, land use, and general corporate work in New York and New Jersey.

The Courage Awards Gala, now in its 14th year, is the Foundation’s largest annual fundraising event, attracting attendees from across the state, including representatives and supporters from the Northern New Jersey business community. It is being held at the Venetian in Garfield. The event includes a cocktail hour, dinner, entertainment, a silent auction, raffles, and more. This year will include a special raffle of three 18K White Gold Kwiat Jewelry pieces – valued at over $20,000 ­– graciously donated by Devon Fine Jewelry of Wyckoff.
