USA Ski Jumping Teams Up With Portland Maine's Burgess Advertising & Marketing
Portland, ME, May 05, 2012 --(PR.com)-- USA Ski Jumping (USASJ) and Portland, Maine-based advertising and public relations agency Burgess Advertising & Marketing, today announced a partnership aimed at paying dividends at the 2014 Winter Olympics being held in Sochi, Russia.
The announcement came with the launch of a new and improved USA Ski Jumping website, http://usaskijumping.org, designed and built by Burgess Advertising & Marketing’s web division.
The agency’s Business Development Manager, Matt Burgess, said the website is just the first step in a partnership with USA Ski Jumping.
“Going forward, Burgess Advertising & Marketing will be assisting USA Ski Jumping with its marketing. This will include media and public relations initiatives, social media interactions, and other ongoing support,” he said.
Since 2008, the US Ski Team (USST), the entity recognized by the International Ski Federation and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) to oversee all ski disciplines in the USA, has provided limited funding to ski jumping and in 2010 released USA Ski Jumping to seek its own funding and create its own programs.
“The website will be a very important tool for USA Ski Jumping to attract the kind of support they need and deserve as they move towards the Sochi Olympics,” said Burgess.
USA Ski Jumping Executive Director Jeff Hastings said the expertise that Burgess Advertising & Marketing brings to the organization will now allow his organization to be on more even footing with other sports competing for public and media recognition and the ever-shrinking sponsorship dollar.
“The website alone bring us up to speed with a critical component in today’s media-driven world. I was amazed at the breadth of design and technical resources that Burgess Advertising & Marketing was able to bring to the table. They had a complete team driving the process. The generosity of time and spirit was overwhelming and the resulting website speaks for itself,” he said.
Hastings said the website is not only something that looks great, but is easy to administer and update, something that is important for a volunteer-based organization like USA Ski Jumping.
“The new site really gives our athletes and the program a chance to tell our stories and shine. It also enables us to acknowledge and showcase our current sponsors and will help us with future sponsorship acquisition,” he said.
Hastings also acknowledged the generosity of photographer Nancie Battaglia and USASJ’s webmaster Ken Anderson, who gave their time and talents to assist Burgess Advertising & Marketing in building the new website.
