Lark Mason & iGavel Associates’ Asian Sale Totals Over $2.7 Million on iGavelAuctions.com
New York, NY, May 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The iGavel Auctions sale of Asian, Ancient, and Ethnographic Works of Art presented by Lark Mason and Associates that closed on May 4th had 260 sold lots resulting in a total of over $2,700,000. Buyers were from many countries, with a large group of successful bidders from the People’s Republic of China.
Nine lots sold above $100,000 each, and received 191 bids. The top ten lots realized over $1.3 million. Highlights from this group are: a Chinese Huanghuali Pair of Yokeback Armchairs, 17th Century; QiBaishi, (1864-1957), WisteriaandBees, Color Inks on Paper; a Chinese Porcelain Underglaze Copper-Red Decorated Dragon Vase, 18th Century; an Antique 19th Century Chinese Book with Paintings and Calligraphy; a Chinese Iron Red and Underglaze Blue Cup, Yongzheng Mark and Period; and a Zhang Daqian (1899-1983), Lotus, Color Inks on Paper.
Included in this sale were five Rhinoceros Horn Libation Cups. Of the five, three had 35 cumulative bids and sold for over $440,000. Another lot of note was a pair of Huanghuali Dragon-Decorated Cabinet Doors, 17th Century, which received 13 bids and sold for over $96,000.
