Water Words That Work, LLC Announces That Voting is Now Open for the Metro DC Dog Blog Essay Contest
Falls Church, VA, May 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Local dog lovers can now vote for their favorite essay in the Metro DC Dog Blog’s 2012 Bark Your Piece! essay contest, which is sponsored by the Northern Virginia Clean Water Partners and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.
The contest is online at: www.metro-dc-dog-blog.com
“We’re very excited to see which of these wonderful essays will draw the most votes from local readers,” says Laura Grape of the Northern Virginia Regional Commission. “And we’re thrilled to be able to provide funds for three local animal shelters and/or rescue groups.”
Since April 23, individuals representing local animal shelters and welfare groups have been submitting essays that define what makes a dog owner responsible to the Metro DC Dog Blog. From today through May 18, readers of the blog will vote for their favorite essays. The essay that draws the most votes will be awarded a $3,000 grand prize and a portable pet waste station from Doody Calls (approximately $250 in value) for the organization it represents. The essay with the second-highest number of votes will win the $1,250 second prize. Third prize is $750. The winners will be announced around May 25.
"We really appreciate the enthusiasm with which the dog-owning community has embraced this contest,” says says Heidi Bonnaffon, environmental planner for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. “And we’re happy to play a part in improving the lives of animals who need help.”
