"It’s-Geek-2-Me" Tech Cartoons to be Showcased in Pittsburgh Technology Council's Award-Winning TEQ Magazine

The Pittsburgh Technology Council’s TEQ magazine, the region’s go-to source for breaking local technology and business news is adding a new feature this month: It’s-Geek-2-Me tech cartoons by Pittsburgh-based cartoonist Francis Cleetus.

Pittsburgh, PA, May 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Award-winning TEQ magazine is adding a new feature this month: It’s-Geek-2-Me tech cartoons by Pittsburgh-based cartoonist Francis Cleetus.

According to Jonathan Kersting, Director, Visibility Initiatives at the Pittsburgh Technology Council, “I have always wanted to add a tech cartoon to TEQ Magazine, so I was stoked to discover It’s-Geek-2-Me and the talented Mr. Cleetus right here in Pittsburgh. As TEQ continues to focus on the technology, business and entrepreneurial communities in the region, now readers can also catch a glimpse of the lighter side of the profound impact technology has on our lives.”

“Perhaps the best part about “It’s-Geek-2-Me” tech cartoons is that they stops us – finally – in mid-text and makes us laugh out loud at life and the silliness of it all.” said Debra Smit, Innovation Editor at Pop City Media.

It’s-Geek-2-Me tech toons chronicle the funny, quirky and unpredictable stories of an eclectic group of “techies,” who work at a fictional company called Paradox Software Corporation located on Smithfield Street in downtown Pittsburgh. The cartoons have garnered a cult following from readers around the world thanks to its Facebook and Twitter fan pages, as well as the iPhone and iPad Apps in the Apple iTunes store.

“My tech cartoons are about these diverse and equally whimsical characters who work at Paradox Software,” said Mr. Cleetus. “While the strip is fictional, the inspiration for the characters and stories is based in real-life experiences I’ve had over the years and continue to have every other day. It’s not only for geeks, however. Anyone who deals with everyday technologies can relate to the humor in these cartoons.”

Not coincidentally, the same technologies that have driven the increasing popularity of the tech cartoon provide the inspiration for much of its humor. “It’s-Geek-2-Me” centers on people and their off-center relationships with their computers, the Internet, smart phones, social networks, gaming devices, mp3 players, e-book readers, gps systems and other amazing technologies, all inspired by real-life events.

Mr. Kersting of the Pittsburgh Technology Council added, Cleetus’ humor transcends his hilarious cartoon series that was recently compiled into a book, “Wish Your Mouth Had a Backspace Key.” Just talk with Cleetus for a few minutes and you’ll quickly discover that he finds humor everywhere and his easy-going personality processes it in a way like no one else.
