Cultural Exchange Books - New Independent Publisher in California Targeting Foreign Language Market

Mountain View, CA, May 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Cultural Exchange Books, a new independent publisher from Northern California will focus on publishing foreign language books to the US market. Targeting multicultural readers and the immigrant population, the company intents to publish literary works in their original languages as well as the English translation.

Cultural Exchange Book's first title, "Além das Fronteiras" (Beyond Borders), was released in its original Brazilian-Portuguese language, on April 27th. Carol Freire's debut novel tells the story of Luna, a young Brazilian girl who drops a promising career in advertising to live with her boyfriend in California. The novel follows fourteen years into the characters life; in which she lives in Brazil, US and China, and portrays the joys and conflicts of an immigrant life.

The author Carol Freire believes there is a significant multicultural audience that has been overlooked by traditional publishers. "America is a country of immigrants and my novel is a reflection of the feelings of displacement and belonging, intrinsic to all immigrants. Like the novel's main character, most immigrants belong to two countries, yet belong wholly to neither," says the Brazilian-American author.

Cultural Exchange Books will operate as a print-on-demand cooperative publisher, with titles available exclusively online through Amazon and major bookstore websites in Canada, the U.S., UK, and Australia.
