Planning for Exit Screening Miss Representation Sponsors McMillan, SAP and BIV
Vancouver, Canada, May 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Planning for Exit, a firm that helps CEOs build the value of their businesses and increase the probability of a successful exit, announced today it will be screening the acclaimed documentary Miss Representation at the Scotiabank Theatre June 6, 2012 in Vancouver at 5:30 PM.
Miss Representation illustrates how the media’s portrayal of women affects what society values in women. The collective message is that a woman’s value is proportional to her youth, beauty and sexuality. The ramifications extend to girls’ self-esteem, boys’ perceptions of girls and to a lack of women holding positions of power and influence.
The Planning For Exit screening brings together emerging and established business leaders, men and women, to draw awareness to the issue and drive change in achieving gender parity in leadership.
“How can we realize our potential as a community if we’re only hearing from 50% of the voices?” said Sandra Wear, Principal Planning for Exit. “We need both voices, male and female, for policy-making, innovation and economic growth. Likewise we need all of our leaders, men and women, active in creating positive change.”
Miss Representation includes interviews with politicians, journalists and activists like Condoleezza Rice, Cory Booker, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Jackson Katz, and Gloria Steinem. The film offers startling facts and statistics that will leave audiences shaken and armed with a new perspective.
“We are thrilled to have so many outreach opportunities for Miss Representation. This film was made to be a change agent in our culture, to inspire both women and men to recognize women's collective voice, leadership capacity and equal rights,” says Newsom.
Tickets are $30 for the screening and $90 for the VIP package with networking cocktail reception. Purchase online: http://sandrawearmissrepresentationgscreening.eventbrite.com/. Event sponsors are McMillan, SAP and Business in Vancouver (BIV).
