New Generation Hot Melt Adhesives from Fusetex
Fusetex Limited, an UK based advanced polymer technology company, has developed a new high-performance hot melt adhesive powder.
Hawkwell, Hockley Essex, United Kingdom, May 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Fusetex Limited, an Essex, UK based company providing high-performance polymers, has developed a new generation hot melt adhesive powder which is marketed under the Curabond brand.
The base polymer melts around 100 - 110°C and on additional heating the melt viscosity increases to a stage whereby it can withstand elevated temperatures of up to 250°C. The powder has a shelf life of more than one year under normal storage conditions and is available in a wide range of particle sizes.
Curabond powders can be easily applied to a wide range of substrates by various coating methods including scatter and powder point. Furthermore, there is no problem with cleaning or handling as can often be the case with hot melt polyurethanes (PUR's).
The Curabond polymer chain has a large proportion of polar chemical groups which facilitate excellent adhesion to a wide variety of substrates such as glass fibre and aluminium. The adhesive powder also offers excellent adhesion to Kevlar® and carbon fibre as well as other difficult finishes such as Teflon® (fluorocarbon) and silicone. Ideal applications for this new generation Curabond powder include deep draw moulding such as headliners, parcel shelves and door panels for automotive trim, carpet tiles and the rapidly growing composite market, to name but a few.
