Westfield, NE, May 12, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Scientifically Proven Computer-Based Products to be Offered this Summer

Education professional, Mary M. Jackson, MS, CTC of Wellspring Learning today announced that she will offer Scientific Learning Fast ForWord and Reading Assistant products in a summer session geared towards students who need to quickly build the skills critical to language and reading considered for academic success in school. This summer, Scientific Learning products will be offered in June, July, and August. The Fast ForWord program is a computer-based program that can be downloaded to a home computer anywhere within the United States and Canada. Wellspring Learning provides remote monitoring, coaching, and regular reports of progress.

The Fast ForWord and Reading Assistant family of products accelerate learning by developing the student brain to process more efficiently, providing struggling readers with computer-delivered interventions and intensive exercises that build the cognitive skills required to read and learn effectively. The products and the science behind them have been the subject of numerous national news articles including features in Time and Newsweek magazines, and The Wall Street Journal.

On average, students with language and reading problems make 1 to 2 years gains in language skills after only 4 to 8 weeks of Fast ForWord training. Reports from teachers and parents have shown that these gains last.

The Fast ForWord Language series, Fast ForWord Literacy series, and the Fast ForWord Reading software series are used for students in K-12. The products feature interactive, animated exercises and use patented technologies to adapt to each student's skill level. Students work on Fast ForWord products 30 to 90 minutes a day, five days a week for four to twelve weeks. Each day's results are transmitted via the Internet to Scientific Learning which produces reports that on-site professionals can use to guide a student’s progress.

Scientific Learning Reading Assistant strengthens fluency, vocabulary and comprehension with advanced speech recognition technology and scientifically-based interventions to help elementary and secondary students become proficient, life-long readers. Students in grades 2-5 using the Reading Assistant twice a week for four months experienced on average 43% increase in fluency gains over norms.

Scientific Learning products are based on more than 30 years of brain research and cognitive research by world-renowned scientists Dr. Michael Merzenich of the University of California at San Francisco and member of the National Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Paula Tallal of Rutgers University. The products have also been featured nationally in Science, the Washington Post, The New York Times, the Boston Globe, USA Today and ABC’s Nightline.
