African Utility Week Visitors Can "FindaLift" and Save

Johannesburg, South Africa, May 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- African Utility Week has partnered with FindaLift to help get delegates and visitors to and from the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg with the least impact on the environment and their pocket. The conference and exhibition is the largest utility services event on the continent and takes place from 21-24 May.

Says African Utility Week’s director Claire Volkwyn: “African Utility Week (AUW) has a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility. We are serious about contributing to the wellbeing of our delegates, visitors, the environment and society as a whole. We are delighted to partner with FindaLift, the first local implementer of specialised journey-matching network solutions and services, by implementing the ‘AUW Rideshare Group’ to encourage more sustainable business travel.”

Rising cost of travel
FindaLift’s Daniel Claassen says not only will this private and secure journey-matching solution help delegates and visitors travel to and from the Expo Centre whilst saving, the AUW Rideshare Group platform will enable the organisers of African Utility Week to monitor and report on the estimated environmental, monetary and distance savings that occurred from sharing journeys to and from the venue.

Says Daniel Claassen: “African Utility Week is the first event organiser in South Africa to implement such a system as ride sharing is only now kicking off locally. The University of Stellenbosch also recently came on board as a FindaLift client. More ride sharers will mean fewer cars on the road, leading to reduced congestion, less delays, faster journey times and cheaper motoring. We believe the insane fuel price and overall rising cost of travel will encourage commuters to work together and share journeys, the way it is already happening in the UK and USA.”

How it works
Online registration is free and takes only one minute. Findalift.co.za’s online platform instantly matches users wanting to travel in the same direction so they can decide to make contact and arrange to share the journey and costs. Special private groups can be created for events, such as African Utility Week, any organisation or defined community such as the University of Stellenbosch.

African Utility Week registered delegates and visitors can contact the organisers for the special Group password to gain access.
