Jesse Jackson Slated to Release Highly-Anticipated Album

One of Miami's most recognizable musicians releases long-awaited first album.

Miami, FL, May 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Described by the Miami Herald as “…a gifted singer/songwriter, adept at Dylanesque streams of consciousness and Leonard Cohenesque ballads of blue”, Miami’s very own Jesse Jackson will release his self-titled album May 19th, 2012. The Vagabond, one of Miami’s most respected live music venues, will play host to Jackson’s CD Release party and exclusive live performance.

As a local favorite, Jesse Jackson has paid his dues in the Miami music scene. For more than a decade, Jackson has captivated audiences at regular gigs at many of Miami’s venues. Now he is taking his music to the next level, releasing his first official album. This eponymous collection of original songs was produced by local Grammy award-winner Carlos Alvarez. Having worked with artists such as Marc Anthony, Julio Iglesias and Carrie Underwood, Alvarez is proud of this particular project saying, “So much of the time we hear artists that require a wall of ear candy behind them. Jesse is one of those artists’ where (thankfully) it’s the opposite. Peeling back the production layers and supporting the song without many bells and whistles was an integral part of our process. With this album we made something that’s just a beauty to listen to.” Jackson couldn’t agree more, stating “The process of recording was great and actually went quite smooth thanks to Carlos' extreme diligence and deep reverence for the creative process. This is a solid and wonderful album.”

Four years in the making, “Jesse Jackson” is one of the most anticipated albums to come from any Miami artist. To mark the occasion, The Vagabond will host the official release party with a live performance by Jackson himself. Carmel Ophir, owner of The Vagabond and long-time supporter, said “Jesse's incredible gift for story-telling weaved through melodies of Americana, Folk, and Blues place him among the finest of singer/songwriters. As an artist, he is an inspiration. As a person, he is genuine. I am privileged to work with him, and more so, proud to call him a friend.”

Official CD Release Party and performance at The Vagabond, 11pm on May 19th, 2012.

About Jesse Jackson
Jesse Jackson, spoke Italian before he spoke English. Born to artist Harry Jackson, and musician Tina Lear (daughter of Learjet inventor William P. Lear), he was only four when his mother heard him make a bilingual pun. It was only the first of many signs of the profound gift he had for language. He’s been compared to the likes of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, and can play pretty much any instrument he picks up. At the moment, he is at home with guitar, sax, piano, drums, banjo, cuatro, bass and more.

When he was 8, his family moved him and his siblings to Cody, Wyoming, where he began playing the saxophone. He spent some time at Berklee College of Music in Boston, but eventually left the cold gray of New England for the tropics, where he began to teach himself to play the guitar and write songs. He’s been featured in the New York Times, Miami Herald, Miami New Times, Map Magazine and Ocean Drive.
