Good Grades Earn Polk County High School Student New 2012 Ford Mustang
Bartow, FL, May 18, 2012 --(PR.com)-- On May 12, 2012, Bartow Ford hosted its 19th Annual Drive for Excellence event, honoring 20 Polk County Junior and Senior finalists who achieved educational excellence during the 2011- 2012 school year.
This year’s winner, Logan Wasden of Lake Gibson High School, waited patiently in the 18th spot to try his key in the door. Arriving at the door he put the key in the lock, and to his astonishment it opened. Rendered speechless, Logan through his arms up in celebration as his family and onlookers congratulated him.
When asked what he thought about being so close to the end of the line he answered, “I thought – Oh no, I’m not going to get it.”
The Bartow Ford Drive for Excellence program was established to encourage excellence in education among Polk County Juniors and Seniors. For nearly two decades, this program has offered local students, who achieve A’s, B’s and perfect attendance, the chance to be drawn as a top qualifier for the opportunity to win a new Ford vehicle.
Benny Robles Sr., President of Bartow Ford, watched anxiously as each student entered their key into the lock of the Mustang. “The Drive for Excellence is always an exciting event at Bartow Ford,” stated Benny. “Congratulations to Logan and all of the other students, they worked really hard,” he continued.
Country Music Artist Michael Ray made an appearance, signing autographs and taking photos with the crowd, while WPCV raffled give-a-ways and updated listeners with event details.
“We have been giving a car away for 19 years, and we are planning to have a big celebration for our 20 year anniversary next year,” finished Benny.
The Drive for Excellence Event was sponsored by 97 Country WPCV and Deli Delicacies.
