Presque Isle Downs & Casino’s Bad Beat Jackpot Tops $139,000

One lucky loser will walk away with more than $69,000 in prize money if they win the Presque Isle Down & Casino Badbeat Jackpot anytime soon.

Erie, PA, May 17, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The jackpot total has surpassed $139,000 as of May 15, which is a record for the casino.

“We are thrilled that our jackpot has reached this amount,” said Christine Stacey, Presque Isle Downs & Casino Poker Room Manger. “Someone stands to win over $69,000 for losing a hand, the player with the winning hand will receive more than $34,000 and the rest of the players at the table will probably receive more than $4,000 apiece.”

That is a lot of money to receive for losing one hand of poker.

“We started the Badbeat Jackpot because we wanted to enhance the customer experience,” said Mike Tamburelli, Presque Isle Downs & Casino VP and General Manager. “Having a lot of money at stake like this adds to the excitement of the game. I would encourage everyone who enjoys poker to come out here and play because you never know when that Badbeat Jackpot will hit.”

A bad beat jackpot is a prize that is paid when a sufficiently strong hand is shown down and loses to an even stronger hand held by another player. At Presque Isle Downs & Casino the qualifier is Aces full of Kings (player must have pocket Aces).

As of Wednesday (May 15, 2012) afternoon the official bad beat jackpot total was $139,189.75.

The last bad beat jackpot was awarded in December 2011 when Joseph Carlisi of Erie, PA, won $26,836.75 and Edward Felden of Eastlake, Ohio, won $13,418.88 in a 1-2 No Limit Hold’em Game. Carlisi had the losing hand with quad 10’s. Felden won with four Queens. Seven others players won $1916 each as part of the table share.

Two bad beat jackpots have been awarded since the poker room opening Oct. 3, 2011.
