Ryan Beil Returns to Vancouver TheatreSports League

Vancouver, Canada, May 18, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Many may recognize the strapping young lad from his award-winning performances at Vancouver theatre productions, but it is safe to say that he draws a national following from his role as the helium-inhaling, free-meal-providing, trainee at the A&W Restaurant commercials. Two-time Jessie Award-winning Ryan Beil will be returning to fans of Vancouver TheatreSports League to do what he’s best at--- being hilarious. Beginning at the end of May 2012, there will be plenty of Ryan Beil to go around at The Improv Centre.

He was a consistent VTSL player in 2008 to 2010, and he admits the following to have motivated him to return to VTSL, “The crowds; being able to perform improv multiple nights a week; plus the list of current mainstage players is a group I want to be a part of.” Ryan believes that Vancouver's theatre scene is a vibrant one, and that most of his favourite actors in the city have some connection to improv or improv training.

Artistic Associate Director Pearce Visser hopes that Ryan’s strong theatre experience will be a contagious virus that spreads through the mainstage ensemble. “There is a huge push to do reality- based, grounded improv theatre, with three-dimensional character development and wonderful narratives. My direction is on that course: towards fantastic improvised theatre. I hope Ryan will help me and VTSL on that journey,” Visser adds.

Ryan Beil is a proud homegrown talent --- born and raised in Vancouver--- and studied acting at UBC, attaining a BFA in 2005. He’s well-known in Vancouver’s theatre scenes, having starred in productions by Bard on the Beach (Comedy of Errors), Arts Club (Billy Bishop Goes to War), and Main Street Theatre Co. (American Buffalo). Ryan has performed improv comedy and improvised theatre in Berlin, Edmonton, Toronto, Seattle, Chicago, St. Louis, Bellingham, Portland, Winnipeg, Regina, and Saskatoon.

And when asked if “Ryan the trainee” will be returning in between breaks of your favourite reality show, Ryan says, “Absolutely. Don't know when, but I can guarantee you that ‘Ryan the trainee’ will be up to his old shenanigans sometime in the summer.”

In the meantime, VTSL and Ryan fans can expect Ryan to hit the boards in the new VTSL show, Dragons’ Improv Tank and other VTSL productions. For show times and weekly cast members, check www.vtsl.com
