The Rally Foundation has made a huge difference so far. In just six years, they have sponsored more than $3 million on childhood cancer research grants, supporting more than 60 research projects nationwide, including 7 projects in New York specifically for Columbia University Medical Center, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Montefiore Medical Center in New York City and the Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester. Rally has also received the Independent Charities Seal of Excellence and 93 cents of every dollar given supports their mission. Of the 1 million charities operating in the US today, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this Seal.
Aleksandra Valenza, Rally’s NY advocate holds the Rally Foundation’s mission very close to her heart. “Rally is fighting for a cause that my entire family is drawn to, not because of first hand experiences, but because this issue has captured our hearts. Rally hasn’t had a big presence in the NY/NJ area and my family wants to do all we can to give back and raise awareness for the affected children and their families. Cancer can happen to any family at anytime. We have met many of the affected children and parents and have heard many stories. Let’s just say that no family should ever need to go through this.
“We want to do anything we can to bring an ounce of hope to even one more child, who today is otherwise being robbed of the opportunity to go to school, play with their friends or even sleep in their own bed. While the Rally’s championship athletes bring their championship mentality from their field of play to our Rally Events, it’s the Rally children and their parents that are teaching all of us how to be Champions in Life.”
