Two New Titles in the Footsteps Series: Chopin, and Tchaikovsky Available May 29th
Chopin, and Tchaikovsky Available on DVD May 29
New York, NY, May 23, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Kultur is proud to announce two news releases in the In the Footsteps Series available on DVD on May 29, 2012.
Chopin
Frédéric Chopin left a musical legacy of some 225 works, yet what is known of the great composer is largely clichés.
A master of Romantic music, Chopin was a complex personality with a dual allegiance to his native Poland and his adopted France.
In death, his body lies in Paris but, at his own request, his heart is buried in Warsaw.
An examination of his life leads from Poland to France and Majorca to uncover the diverse influences on his music.
Shedding light on the great pianist are Chopin expert Yves Henry and Polish pianist Janusz Olejniszak, who recorded the Chopin soundtrack for Polanski’s film The Pianist.
Tchaikovsky
The name of Russia’s greatest composer evokes the entire musical heritage of Russia itself.
Tchaikovsky may be well known, but he has been treated with such reverence that much of what we know is a combination of romance and pure fantasy.
Who is the man behind the music and the myth?
For the answer we rely on André Lischke, a musicologist and one of the world’s leading Tchaikovsky experts.
We travel to Moscow and St. Petersburg to trace the life of one of the world’s greatest musical talents.
Along the way we meet a cast of modern-day musicians, teachers and dancers like Alex Prior, who at the tender age of 14 conducts Tchaikovsky symphonies at the St Petersburg Conservatory.
