Inter-Racial Marriages Are Increasing in America. But is the American Small Town Ready for a Heady Multi-Racial Affair?
About "The Carny" by Brooke Moss - a contemporary romance novel set in the small town of Astoria that not only tells you a heady love story but explores the issue of inter-racial prejudices and varied level of acceptance in small towns of America. While the inter-racial marriages are on a rise in America, how penetrating is this change in small towns is a different story. "The Carny" wrapped in light-hearted romance is a small attempt to stir a moment of reflection in our lives.
Ridgefield Park, NJ, June 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- According to a new report from Pew Research Center, 1 in 12 married couples in America is an inter-racial couple. An approximate 5.3% jump from 1980, America seems poised to erode racial boundaries through simple acts of love. But how much has this infiltrated the American small town?
Brooke Moss, author of contemporary romance novel, “The What “If” Guy” explores the inter-racial dynamics of small town in her new romance novel, “The Carny” published by Inkspell Publishing. Featuring Charlotte Davenport, a Caucasian who falls in love with Vincent Youngblood, a Native American, “The Carny” is a light-hearted, toe-curling romance set in the small town of Astoria. The author traces the difficulties Charlotte faces in gaining acceptance for her well educated, and handsome Native American boyfriend while at the same time weaving a heady affair that warms the heart.
“When I sat down to write The Carny, I knew that I wanted to not only tell a light, romantic story about finding and keeping love; but I also wanted to inspire readers to open their minds and become more accepting towards people of other races. Love is love, no matter what someone's ethnicity is,” says author, Brooke Moss.
Mirroring the author’s sentiments, Shilpa Mudiganti, Acquisition Editor at Inkspell Publishing says the inter-racial angle in the love story played a big role in their decision to sign the author. “We were apprehensive at first but the heart-warming love between Charlotte and Vincent won us over. There is no way someone reads this book and does not love it.”
Author Brooke Moss embarks upon a month long virtual blog tour from June 22nd promoting “The Carny” to be released on July 7th. More details of the tour can be found on the publisher’s website. The contemporary romance novel, “The Carny” releases in print and digital from July 7th and will be available on the Inkspell Publishing’s website (www.inkspellpublishing.com), Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and All Romance eBooks.
