Friends of Karen Receives Entergy Corporation Grant for Families in Need

Purdys, NY, May 24, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Friends of Karen, a children’s charity, has received a $15,000 grant from Entergy Corporation to help families with a critically-ill child. This is the fifth consecutive year that Entergy has recognized the terrible toll that families have to pay when caring for a child with cancer or another life-threatening illness, and how Friends of Karen makes a difference in their daily lives.

“It is such an honor for Entergy to be part of the wonderful organization that Friends of Karen is and the work they do in the community,” said Lori Sheldon, Entergy’s Communication Manager. “What they do for these children and their families is nothing short of remarkable.”

“Very often one parent has to stop working in order to care for the sick child,” explains Judith Factor, Friends of Karen’s Executive Director. “Just imagine how that affects your day-to-day basic needs. How do you cope? This grant from Entergy will help our families with some of their daily expenses.”

Friends of Karen is the only organization that provides emotional, financial and advocacy support to families of a child with cancer or another life-threatening illness, from diagnosis through treatment. Since 1978, they have touched the lives of over 11,800 children.
