Two Librarians Win Samuel Tilden, The Real 19th President Book and $100 Visa Gift Cards at Book Expo America NYC
Book Expo America NYC went beyond Authors Expectations.
Clearwater, FL, June 10, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Jeanette Navia, from Virginia and Stephanie Cooper from New Jersey were the two winners at Book Expo America NYC business card raffle held at the R.J. Communications/Self Publishing dot com booth. Both won $100 Visa Gift Cards and an autographed copy of “Samuel Tilden the Real 19th President” just for stopping by the booth and dropping their business cards. The Librarians were thrilled to have won the prize sponsored by Show Biz East Productions. Jeanette Navia wrote about the win in her blog, http://marfanlife.net/jet/ and says to her readers, “And guess what?? I won a $100 gift card from SBE Productions, who was there to promote Samuel J. Tilden – The Real 19th President. This looks like a really interesting book about the Tilden/Hayes election of 1876. Tilden got more of the popular vote, but lost the electoral vote. Sound familiar? Read more about Tilden at the author’s website Samuel Tilden dot com.”
Author Nikki Oldaker was a first timer at Book Expo America in New York City and promoted her new book as a must read book for history buffs and voters before the 2008 elections. While at the show she happened upon former New York City Mayor Ed Koch who was resting at the C-Span Bus after his book signing event. Oldaker, not wanting to waste a great opportunity walked up to the Mayor and presented him with one of her Tilden book cover post cards and asked him if he knew who Tilden was. The Mayor after viewing the photograph of Tilden smiled back at her and immediately responded, “Of course I do.” He then asked her for her e-mail address so he could keep in touch and send her his newsletters.
The Book Expo overall Oldaker quips, “Is an amazing gathering of talented Authors and Publishers from around the world. Attending this event as a first timer was an enlightening experience and I feel Authors whether celebrities or not should exhibit their books if they can work the expense into their budgets.” Book Expo New York City also included the launch of the Harry Potter Bus tour and Oldaker took a few minutes to make a video that is being posted on the Potter website to say hello to her grand-children and to promote her Tilden book. While at the event Oldaker discussed her book rights with a major publisher. The publisher showed a lot of interest and is currently reviewing her Tilden book for acquisition and distribution rights.
Presidential disinformation corruption was born in 1876 and as the saying goes, history does repeat itself. Author Nikki Oldaker, in her new book "Samuel J. Tilden – The Real 19th President," takes us back in time behind the scenes of the 1876 Tilden/Hayes election, which was referenced with Gore/Bush 2000 election dispute and then again with Kerry/Bush in 2004. Oldaker adds, “My goal is to see this book in every library and to have Tilden’s election story produced as a film. Other famed writers have written about the 1876 election fiasco, but none ever grasped the story as it happened those five months from November 7, 1876 through March 1877. My book tells the story like a movie and entices the reader to turn the pages to find out what happened during the five months of legal confusion Congress faced while trying to decipher Constitutional law to choose the President. Unlike Al Gore and John Kerry, Tilden never conceded his Presidency. Rutherford B. Hayes wrote in his diary election night that he was conceding because he believed Tilden beat him with the popular vote. This fact has been hidden in our history and voters as well as historical educators should know how this election factually played out. I got the facts from the horses’ mouth and it is why I included John Bigelow’s writings in my book. Bigelow was one of Tilden’s Campaign managers and penned Tilden’s biography.”
NY Governor Tilden, AKA, the “Great Reformer” busted the infamous Tweed and Canal Rings. Nikki was in awe of Tilden's political integrity and in 1997, she wrote a movie script about his conflict with Rutherford B. Hayes, titled, "Tilden." She researched numerous books and historical documents as well as newspaper accounts to write a compelling screenplay. The four months of conflict and voters protests during the 1876/1877 demonstrations uncannily looks similar to the last two Presidential elections between Gore/Bush and Bush/Kerry.
Nikki Oldaker is “a natural” who excels at whatever she undertakes. She plunged into her political breech in the 1992 Democratic Political Convention and two more successive ones managing “The VIP Backstage Room” for candidates and speakers who went before the TV cameras. This curiosity led her to Tilden and his presidency that was stolen by just one Electoral College vote.
Oldaker is available for interviews. Her book is available on all online bookstores or can be purchased direct from the Samuel Tilden dot com web site. She also posted slide show photographs of the Book Expo so others can view the event and plans are in the works for her to attend future book shows around the country.
