Chicago Area Child Care Business Owners Can Attend 14th Annual Child Care Business Expo at Reduced Prices

Women’s Business Development Center Lowers Prices for Child Care Business Owners

Chicago, IL, May 25, 2012 --(PR.com)-- In a show of support for the Chicago area’s child care business owners, the Women’s Business Development Center has reduced by almost half the registration cost to attend the 14th Annual Child Care Business Expo at the UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Rd., on Saturday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

New prices are as follows: $25 for the morning session, including the Applause Awards breakfast; $15 for the afternoon session, including a box lunch, and $40 for the entire day, including both meals. The Child Care Business Expo, themed “Shining a Light on the Business Side of Child Care,” is a Gateways to Opportunity Registry-Verified Conference. Attendees will be eligible to earn up to six hours of CDA credit.

"The funding issue is far from resolved," says Hedy Ratner, WBDC co-president. “The budget problems of Springfield should not be resolved on the backs of its micro-entrepreneurs.”

“Child care businesses across Illinois provide necessary, high-quality child care to thousands of families, and these businesses must be paid for these critical services,” she states. “It is up to the state legislature to approve the reallocation of funds.”

Illinois Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, honorary co-chairs of the event, will deliver remarks at the event breakfast. Both leaders “are committed to creating and providing high quality, affordable home and center-based child care in the State of Illinois,” according to Ratner.

Other highlights of the Expo, which is presented in English and Spanish, include a keynote breakfast presentation by nationally-renowned family child care expert Tom Copeland; the Child Care Applause Awards honoring exemplary child care providers and activists; and the Speed Business Coaching and Boost Your Business Sessions focused on leveraging the Business Administration Scale and increasing business revenue. The Exhibit Hall will feature over 60 booths including insurance agents, bankers, child care associations, state regulatory agencies for the industry and educational products and curriculum vendors. New to the Exhibit Hall this year are women’s health and wellness exhibitors as well as a Model Family Child Care Business Office and interactive PowerCorner booths.

Child Care Business Expo Premiere sponsors are Deluxe Corporation Foundation, Dominicks and Robert R. McCormick Foundation. The Expo is also supported by Citi, Discover, Northstar Lottery Group, Southwest Airlines, The Turner Construction Company Foundation and Walgreens.
