Violinist Wayne Lee to Perform with the Minnesota Sinfonia
Minneapolis, MN, May 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Violinist Wayne Lee to perform Mozart’s “Concerto in G Major for violin” with the Minnesota Sinfonia in Minneapolis and St. Paul on June 21 and 22.
Also on the program, the 2011 Junior Composers winning composition, “Jest” by Chris Neiner and “Symphony No. 103 in E flat Major, The Drumroll” by Franz Joseph Haydn.
Concerts will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, June 21 at Lake Phalen Regional Park, 1615 Phalen Dr, St. Paul, MN 55106 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 22 at Lake Harriet Bandshell, 4135 W Lake Harriet Pkwy, Minneapolis, MN 55419. Admission is free and children are welcome to attend. Parking is limited at Lake Phalen Regional Park, so the Sinfonia has reserved Johnson High School’s parking lot at 1349 Arcade St in St. Paul and commissioned shuttles to provide free park and ride service for those attending the concert on June 21. In case of rain on June 21, the Sinfonia will be performing at Arlington Hills Lutheran Church at 1115 Greenbrier St, St. Paul, 55106. Audience members should arrive early—all concerts are first-come, first-seated.
Violinist Wayne Lee, a native of San Francisco, is an active chamber musician and recitalist. Since 2008, he has been a member of the Manhattan Piano Trio, an ensemble based in New York that has carved out a unique niche for itself by performing concerts in a much wider range of settings – from major concert halls around the country to new concert series in smaller towns. One of the most active groups in the classical music scene, the Trio performs frequently in the United States and Europe, and recently released their third album, a disc of Schumann and Chopin trios for the Marquis Classics label, in honor of the composers’ bicentennials.
Mr. Lee’s repertoire reflects his wide range of musical interests. Recent solo performances have included unaccompanied violin works by Bach and Elliot Carter, virtuoso pieces by Sarasate and Saint-Saëns, and the complete Beethoven sonatas for violin and piano.
Chris Neiner was first interested in music at the age of ten when he started playing the french horn. Since then, he has become a pianist and a young, active composer. As a composer, he has written for various ensembles, ranging from solo piano to full orchestra and has won competitions hosted by the Minnesota Sinfonia, National Federation of Music Clubs, Minnesota Music Teachers Association, and the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra. His composition experiences have been enriched by attending the Junior Composers Institute, where he has studied with Linda Tutas Haugen, Jocelyn Hagen and Randall Davidson.
