RE/MAX Suburban Manager in Wheaton Wins Top Honor from RE/MAX Northern Illinois

Chicago, IL, May 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Cheryl Shurtz, manager of RE/MAX Suburban, 1417 N. Main St., Wheaton, Ill., took home one of the most coveted honors during the annual RE/MAX Northern Illinois awards ceremony when she was named the 2011 Manager of the Year.

This honor goes to the RE/MAX Northern Illinois broker/manager who does the most during the year to help a RE/MAX brokerage grow. Managers are judged on many criteria, including how many agents they add to an office during the year, how few agents leave the office and what training options they offer to their staffers.

RE/MAX Northern Illinois officials say that Shurtz excelled in all these areas.

Shurtz earned certification as an instructor from Buffini & Company, a leader in the field of real estate sales training, and she has used those skills to help agents in her office develop and succeed. Shurtz has offered a variety of classes and seminars for the agents at RE/MAX Suburban, Wheaton.

The agents working under Shurtz seem to appreciate these efforts. During Shurtz's tenure as manager of RE/MAX Suburban in Wheaton, the number of agents working there has increased from 15 to 26, an impressive feat at a time when many real estate brokerages across the Chicago area are steadily losing agents.

Shurtz is no newcomer to the real estate business. She first began selling homes in 1983 and earned her broker's license in 1984. She is also a Seniors Real Estate Specialist, a Certified Short Sale and Foreclosure Specialist and a Certified Negotiation Consultant.

Shurtz is active in her community, serving on the Women In Business committee of the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce and has served as Chamber president. She is currently the Ambassador Chair and Volunteer Chair for the Taste of Glen Ellyn Committee, which is part of the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce. Shurtz and her family also participate annually in the Glen Ellyn, Wheaton and Winfield Relay for Life.
