Fifteen Outskirts Press Authors Garner Honors in 18th Annual EVVY Awards
Outskirts Press dominates the Colorado Independent Publishers Association 18th Annual EVVY Awards annual book competition with 15 awards.
Denver, CO, May 31, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press self-publishing authors made a strong showing in the 2012 Annual EVVY Awards, held Thursday, May 17th at the Lone Tree Arts Center on the outskirts of Denver, Colorado. Fifteen Outskirts Press authors were honored with EVVY awards, including three Colorado residents: Vera Carolyn Sprouse Snyder, Robert B. Wiley, and Molly Fiore.
"The caliber of work the EVVY judges had to consider this year was simply awesome," said Brent Sampson, president and CEO of Outskirts Press. "It's wonderful to see Outskirts Press authors receive so much meaningful recognition against this high level of competition; and it is gratifying for me, personally. In fact, seeing our authors win awards is one of the best things about my job. It's nice that it happens so often. We're extremely proud of all our EVVY award-winners!"
Outskirts Press, an Inc. 5000 company and the fastest-growing self-publishing and book marketing company, has long supported self-published authors with the resources they need to write, publish, and market their books.
The EVVY Awards, an annual contest held by the Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA), recognizes excellence in independently published books from associated Colorado publishers, including Outskirts Press. Entries are judged by a panel of independent experts and professionals in their respective category fields. This year the EVVY Awards were hosted by Jake Jabs, CEO of American Furniture Warehouse (and self-published author).
Categories for the 2012 awards included autobiography/memoirs, biography/history, business/finance, fiction, how-to, inspirational, self-help, juvenile, legacy, non-fiction experiences, poetry, political/social, spirituality/religion, workbooks and travel. Books are recognized with 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place EVVY awards, as well as honorable mentions (Merit Awards).
For the sixth consecutive year, Outskirts Press led the way with the most award-winning books among participating publishers with one 1st-place award, five 2nd-place awards, three 3rd-place awards, and six Merit Awards. From among these winners, the three finalists for the 2011 Outskirts Press Best Book of the Year award will be determined in the coming days. The annual Outskirts Press Best Book of the Year award honors the author of the best book published by Outskirts Press in all of 2011.
