Jacksonville's 1st 7K to Offer Participants Unique Discounts for 20 Local Merchants & Will Crown King and Queen
The Goal is to celebrate the healthy community of Riverside/Avondale and start a health revolution. To inspire and motivate Northeast Floridians to promote the necessity of healthy and happy communities to live, work and play in the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida is hosting Jacksonville’s 1st 7K.
Jacksonville, FL, May 31, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Jacksonville's 1st 7K, the community first Hale & Hearty to offer participants unique discounts for 20 local merchants & will crown King and Queen.
Goal is to celebrate the healthy community of Riverside/Avondale and start a health revolution.
To inspire and motivate Northeast Floridians to promote the necessity of healthy and happy communities to live, work and play in the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida is hosting Jacksonville’s 1st 7K - The Community First Hale & Hearty 7K on June 2, 2012 at the Riverside Arts Market. The 7K represents seven attributes to a healthy community, the 7 county region and the 7 principals of financial health.
“Community First Hale & Hearty 7K is a celebration of the Riverside community whose leaders and residents developed a vision years ago to connect the relationships between economic, social, and political factors with health and mental well-being status. Ultimately, this forward thinking strategy improves the quality of a healthy life of its residents,” said Dr. Dawn Emerick, President & CEO of the Health Planning Council of North East Florida. “Riverside has gained national and international recognition as a great place to live. With its distinctive mix of history, culture, character and community, the neighborhood exemplifies gracious urban living.”
While the Community First Hale & Hearty 7K is a fundraising event for the Health Planning Council, it also honors the Riverside local economy by increasing the exposure and customer foot traffic to Riverside’s retail, museums, arts, restaurants, outdoor markets, etc. Each race participant upon registration has voluntarily submitted their cell phone number into a text messaging system, which will be automatically linked electronically to the runner’s time chip. After the runner passes each of the 1 mile markers placed throughout the race course, they will receive a text message with a link to a private page on the race’s website with offers to local Riverside merchants and vendors. Each registered runner will receive four (4) texts during the race linking them to 20 unique offers.
Another unique aspect of this race is that a King and Queen of the race will be crowned. Hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind crowns will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers. Tyson Alualu’s, Defensive Tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars #93, wife and daughter will be presenting the crowns to the winners.
The Community First Hale & Hearty 7K will start and end at the Riverside Arts Market at 8:00 a.m. The Riverside Arts Market is located at 715 Riverside Ave under the cover of the Fuller Warren Bridge. The course will take runners through two of Riverside’s most popular and frequented parks, Memorial Park and Riverside Park. Online registration at www.haleandhearty7k.com.
The event is being managed by 1st Place Sports and all proceeds from the Community First Hale & Hearty 7K will benefit the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida’s regional health care utilization research and expand the features of its health-related quality of life indicator dashboard entitled Northeast Florida Counts (www.neflcounts.org).
