How Children’s Dreams Can Come True: I Want to Fly Published by Outskirts Press
Playwright Allel Kheroufi new children’s book is a four part play about the intrepid Homer Duck, who must ultimately take matters into his own hands after his friends all tell him he’ll never reach his dream of being able to fly to the sun.
Edmonton, Canada, May 31, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Canadian playwright Allel Kheroufi announced today the release of I Want to Fly, A Play for Children in Four Parts, published by Outskirts Press. Kheroufi’s tale shows that achieving a goal requires hard work, but with the loving help of their parents, children are able to reach their deepest dreams.
To dream is to have a future, the author shows, and he encourages all parents to recognize the duty they have to help their children create their future with a confidence in their ability to succeed. By instilling in them the courage to face whatever obstacles might arise, parents can help their children make their dreams come true.
For Homer Duck, to dream is to fly. Homer knows, however, that just dreaming about flying is not enough. Flying implies arriving at a specific destination, and Homer learns that his desire to fly to the sun will require dedication and hard work. Even the first barriers he meets – the negative comments and discouragement of his peers – require a steadfast commitment by him to continue his journey toward the sun.
Homer’s mother has helped teach him to persevere and she continually encourages him to reach toward his dream by letting him know that a life without dreams is a life without happiness, a life without a future. More than just wishing him luck or wishing him success, she helps teach him how to muster the bravery he needs to head off and find his own way to the sun.
I Want to Fly concludes when Homer encounters a wise and generous king who grants the duck his wish. Kheroufi’s evocative play is a valuable primer for children to learn the value of remaining true to their original purpose, no matter what, and to see the rewards that are possible when they pursue wholeheartedly their deepest dreams.
