SharpSetup 1.6 Released - New Major Release of Installer Creation Tool for .NET Developers Now Available
SharpSetup enables .NET software developers to author deployment packages using technologies and tools they already know. The just released SharpSetup 1.6 adds support for .NET prerequisite modules and improved code completion.
Krakow, Poland, June 04, 2012 --(PR.com)-- SharpSetup allows software developers to create professional multilingual setup packages using well established technologies and tools such as Visual Studio, Windows Installer XML toolset and general purpose programming languages C# and C++. SharpSetup aims to maximise developer's productivity by making installer development process as close as possible to the process of creating typical desktop application. With SharpSetup developers can easily create installers with sophisticated graphical user interfaces using Visual Studio dialog and control designer utilizing wealth of pre-built and custom components.
Version 1.6, in addition to a number of bug fixes, adds notable improvements in the area of .NET prerequisites checking and installation. SharpSetup 1.6 comes with several prerequisite modules that allow developers to check for and install .NET Framework, Visual C++ Redistributable Package and check Windows version. With just a few clicks the developer can set up a prerequisite to be packaged with his installer or downloaded from remote server on demand. Of course every aspect of this new mechanism can be extended using standard .NET mechanisms: users can write their own file providers and new prerequisite modules.
Another new feature in version 1.6 is the improved WiX code completion. In addition to standard completion of XML tag names, suggestions for new random guids, names of defined components, directories, features and more are now available in popup completion lists. This feature continues the line of WiX code editing features available in previous releases such as simplified adding of components and localization file generation and updating.
"I am positive that this new version of SharpSetup will make installer development process easier and more effective for every .NET developer," said Tomasz Grobelny, SharpSetup developer. "Especially given that developers need not leave Visual Studio to create setup package for their application."
