The Medal Play Open @ Classic Club Results

Palm Desert, CA, June 01, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Medal Play Golf Tour held its mid-season major at Classic Club at Classic Club in Palm Desert on May 19-20th. The Medal Play Open features players from both tours based in Palm Springs, CA and Phoenix, AZ. “The competition was certainly strong for this event,” commented tour director Blane Freytag. “Players had to keep their focus for 36 holes over two days to hoist the trophy for this major championship.”

Championship Division - The Championship division was a tight battle with Phoenix tour player Bob Dillon putting two solid rounds together for the title. Palm Springs player Jay Rein kept the pressure on Dillon, but came up a shot short.

Gold Division – Tony Lang, playing out of the Palm Springs tour turned a solid Sunday into his first major championship. Terry Ratteree, also from the Palm Springs tour, battled toe to toe with Lang all day Sunday finishing second a shot back. Steve Vance of the Palm Springs tour finished 3rd.

Silver Division – Steve High and Stan Tankersley, both from the Palm Springs tour, shot their rounds of their life Sunday to finish strong. High lifted the trophy as his lead from Saturday was too much for Tankersley to overcome. Robert Soto of the Palm Springs tour and the overnight leader finished 3rd.

The tour returns to action at The Marriott Shadow Ridge in Rancho Mirage on Sunday June 10th.
