About Vallo Benjamin, M.D.
Dr. Vallo Benjamin is currently the Professor of Neurosurgery at New York University Medical Center, Dept. of Neurosurgery. He was born in Hamadan, Iran and earned his M.D. at the University of Tehran in 1958. In the early 1970's, Dr. Benjamin was a pioneer in the development of anterior approaches to the spinal column for treatment of trauma, tumors and various diseases of the spine. He served as Acting Chairman for the Dept. of Neurosurgery in 1992/93. His specialty lies in the treatment of patients with spine disease, in particular, stenosis, tumors and herniated discs. His experience also includes treating patients' meningiomas. His numerous papers have been published in peer reviewed medical journals. Dr. Benjamin is associated with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
