The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva Launches New Executive Certificate in International Crisis Management with LEIDAR
Geneva, Switzerland, June 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies is pleased to announce today the launch of a new Executive Certificate - International Crisis Management – in partnership with the international communications and leadership consultancy LEIDAR.
Starting in November 2012 and ending in March 2013, this new programme will be organised around three modules of three to five days each. The Executive Certificate addresses the main dimensions of international crisis management: stakeholder mapping, crises dynamics, risk assessment, anticipation tools and crisis navigation.
The course is intended for professionals working in both public institutions and private companies, active in operations, communications, advocacy or human resources. The content of the programme will balance analytical study with the acquisition of practical skills through real-life crisis situations and include the participation of high-level external guests.
Cédric Dupont, Director Executive Education at the Graduate Institute said: “We believe that this new programme is the perfect complement to our existing Executive Education programmes because it focuses on emergency situations that are very demanding on all actors at international level and require highly competent professionals. The originality of this programme is in its 360° approach to addressing international crises, from risk prevention to crisis management.”
Rolf Olsen, CEO of LEIDAR and co-Director of the Executive Certificate in International Crisis Management added: “For decades, Geneva has been the centre of international crisis prevention and management. Crises are increasingly complex and require trained professionals in order to manage them. In today’s inter-connected world, crises can take an international dimension in seconds, therefore being able to detect the early warnings and having the right procedures in place is critical.” He added: “For any organisation, the question is not if a crisis will occur but when and where. How well prepared you are will determinate the impact.”
Some of the unique programme features include:
· A strong focus on mapping the various potential crises an organization can face, ranging from natural disasters, organisational mismanagement to armed conflicts
· A 360° approach to international crises– from risk assessment to crisis management
· Case studies and real-life crisis exercises
The partnership between the Graduate Institute and LEIDAR offers a unique perspective for participants, bringing together high-level academic insights and world-class communications practitioners with longstanding experience in crisis management.
Registration is now open. Detailed information on the Executive Certificate in International Crisis Management is available on the Graduate Institute’s Executive Education website.
