Radio DJ Jim Kerr Has Home Dedicated in His Honor
Fresh Meadows, NY, June 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The soothing voice of Jim Kerr has come into New Yorkers’ homes over the radio waves for 37 years. Currently he is the host of the Jim Kerr Rock & Roll Morning Show on Q104.3. Now, one home will do more than hear his voice—it will bear his name.
Since 1987, Jim Kerr has been a member of the Board of Directors for HeartShare Human Services of New York. To celebrate his 25 years of dedication and commitment to the nonprofit organization, HeartShare named one of its group homes for adults with developmental disabilities the Jim Kerr House.
“We felt that Jim’s years of devotion to HeartShare warranted this special recognition,” said HeartShare’s President and CEO William R. Guarinello. “Jim’s involvement in the house will be as steadfast and engaging as his role on the Board of Directors. HeartShare is proud to have Jim’s name on one of our homes.”
Opened in 2008 in Fresh Meadows, Queens, NY, this residence is home to six women with developmental disabilities. The residence offers all the amenities of a regular home with the added benefit of 24-hour staffing to meet the residents’ special needs. Special focus is placed on learning daily living skills, such as doing laundry, cooking and money management. The women also enjoy a wide array of activities in the community.
HeartShare has been providing residential services to individuals with developmental disabilities since 1977. Currently, it has 28 group homes and 35 supported apartments, in addition to all of its other services.
